Shantelle Meaney – Kinesiologist

Shantelle grew up in Chilliwack, BC and came to Calgary in 2002 on an academic scholarship to play varsity basketball at the University of Calgary. Her love for sport led her to pursue an education in the science of human movement and she graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree.

During her university years, Shantelle honed practical field experience in weight lifting, Olympic weight lifting, and elite level training and testing. She also worked at the U of C Health and Wellness Fitness Centre as a fitness consultant and instructed core-focused fitness classes.

Shantelle is knowledgeable in Community Rehabilitation and Disability studies and has experience with special populations through volunteer work at the U of C Rehabilitation Centre.
Additionally, Shantelle has Coaching Level 1 certification and has been involved in multi-sport training camps in Calgary where she provides effective training environments for developing athletes.

Shantelle brings her passion for health and fitness to Preventous and keeps active by participating in sport leagues throughout Calgary.

Kavan Allison – Strength & Conditioning Coach


Kavan is passionate about helping people become as healthy as possible and supporting them in the journey to a new level of physical fitness. His specialties include strength and conditioning, functional training, weight loss, muscle gain, core conditioning, and sport-specific training.

From Moncton, New Brunswick, Kavan graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Kinesiology, a thirst for knowledge and a desire to help others. Consequently, he went on to become a certified personal trainer (CSEP – CPT). He moved to Calgary in 2003.

Kavan has trained people from all walks of life, including the general population, elite athletes, kids and older adults. Regardless of your fitness level, Kavan helps you determine your needs and develops the right program for achieving your goals.

Kavan enjoys learning and continually reads books and articles to stay on top of what’s new in the world of training. He is active in flag and touch football as well as skeleton and believes training is important for anyone who wants to compete at a higher level.

Christine Leslie – Kinesiologist

Christine grew up in the Ottawa Valley and has called Calgary home since 2006. Focused on injury prevention, injury rehabilitation and education, she is a firm believer in developing a strong foundation to prevent injury. For Christine, there are no excuses for not having good health!

With an HBA in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario and a Sports Injury Therapy and Massage Therapy Diploma from the Canadian Therapeutic College, Christine has worked with all levels of athletes, from the weekend warrior to the professional. She particularly enjoys working with clients recovering from injuries or surgery to help them get back to 100 percent.

Educating her clients on the body, teaching body awareness and having fun are key components of Christine’s training philosophy. Certified in Active Release Therapy for the upper and lower body, she also believes this type of therapy is critical to maintaining an active lifestyle and preventing injury.

Christine stays up to date on the latest information and continually takes courses to improve her skills. She will be introducing Functional Movement Screening to her practice in the near future to help her clients get better results. In her free time, Christine enjoys training for triathlon, hiking, golfing, skiing and all outdoor activities.
