Betty Golightly – Travel Medicine Specialist

Betty helps keep our clients healthy no matter where in the world they are.
A clinical pharmacist, Betty provides pre-travel consultations at Preventous Collaborative Health. She graduated from the faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta and has practiced in retail-based pharmacy for most of her 18-year career. Over the past decade, she has worked to combine her passions for travel and medicine.
Betty has a Foundation in Travel Medicine from the Scottish Centre for Infection and Environmental Health and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). She successfully challenged the International Society of Travel Medicine Certificate of Knowledge Examination and was one of the first pharmacists in Alberta to be authorized to administer medications by injection.
In addition to her practice at Preventous, Betty is a part-time instructor in the Pharmacy Technician-Retail program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Polytechnic. As well, she co-facilitates the Injection Course for Pharmacists (Calgary). Betty has been on counsel with the Alberta Association of Travel Health Professionals and has been a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine since 2003.
Through business, medical missions, schooling, and pleasure, Betty has managed to travel to five continents. Staying active is important to her and she enjoys golfing when weather permits.
